Susan Elliott
May 30 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Singer-songwriter and pianist Susan Elliott has been part of the Houston music scene for more than four decades. She came to the songwriting late, having spent more than thirty of those years as half of the jazz vocal duo Mood Indigo, and a founding member of the Non-Toxic Band (which performed for kids), endeavors she shared with her late husband and creative partner, Joe Romano. In 2017, she embarked on a solo career, a pretty crazy thing to do in one’s mid-fifties.Though Susan’s music doesn’t fit neatly into any particular genre, a love for all those singer-songwiters of the 60’s and 70’s, and a background in theater and jazz are evident in both her singing and writing. Harmonically complex, intimate and lyrical, her songs paint a portrait of the human condition, weaving narratives that are both deeply personal and universally resonant. There are some funny ones, too. Her first solo recording project, This Strange Season, was released in October, 2019.
